| | Tasting Science Listservs and Websites | This is a non-commercial Internet forum for the discussion of news, questions, and items of interest to the sensory evaluation (of foods and products) community. It is meant to provide a means for sensory professionals from diverse backgrounds, companies, and countries to discuss news and ideas. Currently, to join one must have a Yahoo! ID, which is free and easy to obtain. The archives of this group and helpfulness of the individuals on it are both invaluable sources of information. You can subscribe to receive Percepnet, a Spanish publication on sensory evaluation issues. This site provides an online mechanism for exchange between academia and the private sector. It contains links to recent articles about the sense of smell as well as a virtual library that suggests books on human olfaction for all age groups and levels. This is an unmoderated listserver with the main goal of helping with problems that people encounter in their research. In addition, any type of information a member thinks the olfactory psychophysics community should know can also be posted. If you are interested in subscribing, send a message to "olfactometer-request@socrates.berkeley.edu" with "add to list" in the subject line. This web page is under development. Currently, it has links to olfactory psychophysics labs that are on the "olfactometer" listserver, as well as a section that is attempting to standardize threshold tests. Future planned sections include a list of odor descriptors and good sources for odorants. |
